Shooters set to gather for charity event at Eriswell to raise money for the Every Heart Matters appeal.

Tom McGregorSharp shooters are lining up for a charity shoot at Eriswell Lodge later this year in a bid to raise money for the My WiSH Charity’s Every Heart Matters appeal.

Already some of the top sportsmen and women in the country are set to take part in the charity clay shoot on Monday, August 6, at the complex in Brandon Road, Eriswell, with invites already sent out to several top world and British champions.

They include George Digweed, Ed Solomons, Georgia Moule, Mark Winser and Hannah Gibson. And the latest to join the list of champions is 18-year-old Tom McGregor, individual Junior High Gun at the National Inter Counties Sporting Championship 2017.

The teenager, who lives in Denham, near Bury St Edmunds and who is a member of the Suffolk Junior Team and ranked seventh in the UK in Juniors for English Sporting, said he was “thrilled” to be taking part in the event for the charity which is aiming to raise £500,000 for a new cardiac unit at the West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.

He said: “It’s a great honour to be taking part and I’m really thrilled,” he said.
He is out shooting most weeks and regularly shoots up to 700 rounds a week and is getting ready for upcoming tournaments including the World Championships next month at High Wycombe, the UK Grand Prix in July at High Lodge, near Darsham, in East Suffolk, and the British Open which is being staged in the Midlands in September.

And he now has his eyes set on Eriswell Lodge in August.

The top shots will captain one of the teams of five people due to take part in the event and each team will be able to bid for the stars. The team fee is £500 and there will be 100 charity clay shoot, shot over 15 stands

Sally Daniels, campaign manager said, “We are so excited to work with Eriswell Lodge.

“August is a little way away but we want to get the message out now so people have time to fundraise for the £500 team fee.

“It’s for a great local cause and we hope businesses will see it as a fantastic opportunity to enjoy team building both beforehand and on the day. I am also sure that there are some rather competitive shooters out there who would love the chance to compete against each other whilst under the watchful eye of top class professionals!”

The West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is investing £5.2m in developing a state of the art cardiac suite that will provide quicker access to more treatments, but the £500,000 the My WiSH Charity is hoping to raise will lead to the whole unit, which is currently fragmented on different floors, being brought together in one purpose-built centre.
