Barry's bench takes pride of place at West Suffolk Hospital
Lovely Lorna Allen got in touch with the charity last year having sadly lost her wonderful husband Barry. The couple were together for over 53 years which is just amazing.
Barry was a regular in-patient at West Suffolk Hospital, spending much time on Ward F10. He and Lorna would often go out to the front of the hospital during visiting times and Lorna wanted to spend her donation on a bench in Barry's memory.
One of the lovely things we can often do as a charity is abide by our donors wishes and so we set to work finding a bench and getting it in place.
Barry was a real character and much loved by all who knew him,
including the nurses who cared for him so well, so we were pleased to unveil Barry's Bench at the main entrance of the hospital. Lorna uncovered the plaque and toasted her lovely husband with a glass of bubbly. We even gave her a packet of Golden Wonder crisps (Barry's favourite!).
It was a moving day but we were thrilled that we had been able to make Lorna's WiSH come true.
