Toddling tots raise money for hospital labour suites
A charity walk with a difference has seen toddling tots brave the weekend weather to support labour suites at West Suffolk Hospital.
The inaugural ‘Toddle for Tots’ took place on Hardwick Heath in Bury St Edmunds.
Organised by My WiSH Charity, which supports the hospital, the event even saw a couple of fundraising toddlers raise money through online platforms.
One was 20-month-old Macie Clarke, from Risby, who raised £170 after taking part in the toddle.
Mum Hayley said: “Macie was born at West Suffolk Hospital so I wanted to give something back.
“I thought I would just put a message out to my family and friends on Facebook and we managed to raise £140 which was fantastic.”
While all participants paid a small entry fee, toddler Reuben Agius was also sponsored for his exploits, raising £65.
All money raised from the event will go towards refurbishment plans for the hospital’s labour suites.
Sue Smith, fundraising manager, said: “We had an amazing turnout of parents and toddlers who braved the weather in support of the hospital’s labour suites.
“It was a really lovely atmosphere and speaking to all the parents, they wanted to take part to give something back to their local hospital.”
Sue said the success of the event – which was sponsored by Muse Portraits and Shoephoric, both from Bury - could see another Toddle for Tots take place in the summer.
