New cycling event attracts great interest for hospital
A chance for cycling enthusiasts to take advantage of a special early bird offer and sign up to West Suffolk’s newest cycle event closes at the end of this month.
The West Suffolk Spin on Sunday 29 May is aimed at cyclists of all levels with a 25, 50 or 100-mile course as well as a family fun ride.
It will be raising money for six different areas of West Suffolk Hospital with participants able to take advantage of a special entry fee of just £20 before Sunday 31January.
The event, which has been launched by the newly-formed special events committee of West Suffolk Hospital Charity, is supported by Revel Outdoors and has already seen huge interest among hospital staff and the community alike.
Paul Rayner, chair of the special events committee, said: “We are delighted with how the West Suffolk Spin has started, both in terms of entries and interest.
“We want to raise money for our hospital but we also want to organise an event that will appeal to the whole family and encourage healthy living and regular exercise.
“I would urge people to sign up today, whether individuals, friends and family, or companies looking for some team-building while supporting a local charity.”
The event on Sunday 29 May is aimed at all levels of cyclists so whether you want to tackle 25, 50 or 100 miles around the Hospital catchment area or a family fun ride around Nowton Park, the West Suffolk Spin has got it covered.
The Spin will fundraise for six specific areas of the hospital – emergency department, general, cancer services, women & children’s services, stroke services and cardiology.
You can sign up for the event today by registering with the special West Suffolk Spin sign-up page, organised by event partners Sport 80.
Entry for the event is a discounted £20, rising to £25 from 1st February 2016. When you sign up, you will be asked to choose which of the five areas you would like to support from the cycle.
The special events committee, made up of both staff and members of the public, was set up to organise fundraising events to support the work of the hospital.
