Lloyds bank staff and local businesses prepare to putt their way to charity success

Bank staff who organised a 24-hour fundraising golfing marathon will be returning to the course next month to continue their support of two charities.

Golf-loving members of staff at Lloyds Bank have already raised £5,000 after seven participants putted their way through the night and day.

Now they are busy planning a charity golf day, alongside local businesses, to continue their support of the My WiSH Charity’s ‘Love Your Nodes’ campaign and the Suffolk Community Foundation.

Peter Basford, Area Director for Lloyds Bank Commercial in Suffolk, said: “We wanted to support some really worthwhile local charities which we know are doing great work in our community.

“The 24-hour golf day was a great event and a real challenge, especially at night when the wind picked up. We think we went around about 140 holes in the 24 hours and it even included a couple of holes-in-one.

“We are hoping next month’s golf day will be just as successful. It is open to anyone and is certainly for all standards of golfer with some fun and games planned to ensure it has something for everyone, while supporting some great charities.”

Last month, My WiSH Charity joined forces with the Bury Free Press to launch the ‘Love Your Nodes’ campaign to raise £25,000 for a Sentimag machine to help with the removal of lymph nodes.

Every year up to 250 people have breast cancer operations at the West Suffolk Hospital. The Sentimag will give surgeons a greater idea of what lymph nodes to remove to ensure the cancer has not spread further.

Places are still available for the golf day on Friday 9th September at Fynn Valley Golf Club, near Ipswich.

They cost £150 for a team of four which includes breakfast, a two-course meal and 18 holes of golf with an auction and raffle also planned.
