Date set for the return of the fundraising Legends
A date for the third annual Ipswich Town Legends charity football match has been announced.
The likes of Matt Holland and Kieron Dyer, fresh from his stint on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’, are expected to be leading the Legends team at Bury Town’s Ram Meadow on Sunday 17 April.
As in previous years, football fans will get the chance to play against the Legends, or indeed on the same side as Titus Bramble and John Wark.
All money raised from the charity match will go towards the Forget-Me-Not Dementia Campaign, run by West Suffolk Hospital Charity, and the Ipswich Town Academy.
Dave Gooderham, communications manager at the hospital charity, said: “We are delighted to announce plans for our third charity football match with Ipswich Town Legends.
“Having played in the first match, I know first-hand what a thrill it was to go head-to-head with the likes of Simon Milton and Kieron Dyer.
“They are always fantastic occasions, both playing in them and supporting the day with a chance for fans to have photographs and autographs with some famous Ipswich Town faces.
“In previous years, the match has raised a fantastic amount of money for the two charities and everyone at West Suffolk Hospital Charity would like to thank Ipswich Town and Bury Town for their continued support.”
Full details on how you can buy places, both for and against the Legends, will be announced in the coming weeks but Dave said they will become available at the end of February.
The two previous years have raised more than £9,000 for the two charities and Simon Milton, director of academy sales at Ipswich Town, said: “We always look forward to coming back to Ram Meadow and meeting some loyal fans in the west of the county and beyond.
“The two previous years have been a great success for some really worthwhile charities and causes and I am sure 2016 will follow suit.”
