Frames Conservatories Direct quiz night a big success
Bury St Edmunds based company, Frames Conservatories Direct, have held their first charity event in aid of the Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital.
The quiz night, hosted at Bury Rugby Club, attracted an amazing 26 teams and raised a fantastic £1,345 towards the company’s target of £12,000 by the end of the year.
Reaching the £12,000 target will enable them to buy four portable cardiac scanners for the Rainbow Ward. These much-needed scanners will enable young patients to receive monitoring at their bedside or while being transferred between wards or even between hospitals.
Frames managing director Adrian Lewis said of the night: “This was our first event for the Rainbow Appeal so we wanted it to go well. We couldn’t have been happier with the amount of people who entered – it was standing room only at the end.
"Everybody was in good spirits on the night and generously gave their support by entering a team and buying raffle tickets. We boosted funds on the night by charging teams £5 to use a joker on their best round and auctioning off a signed rugby shirt which was kindly donated by the Rugby Club.”
The Rugby Club also generously donated 10% of bar takings on the night to the appeal fund.
Sally Daniels, Fundraising Officer at West Suffolk Hospital Charity, said: “It was a really fun evening and lovely to see so many people there. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the quiz night, especially all those connected to Frames Conservatories Direct for their hard work.”
The company have a number of other fundraising events planned throughout the year.
They are currently inviting people to “walk to the end of the world to save a child’s life”. This 2015 walking challenge invites participants to get sponsored for the number of steps they take during a day, a week, a month or even a year.
Participants will be equipped with a pedometer to track the distance they walk and can log their steps and the amount they get sponsored via a simple weekly online form.
To register for the walk you can call Julie or Steve on 01284 700456 or visit www.fcd-home.co.uk/walk.
