Popular village event raises money for bereavement suite
A Coombs couple have kept alive their 20-year-old fundraising tradition to support a bereavement suite planned for West Suffolk Hospital.
Dave and Carol Morgan, who organise a festive float to tour the villages of Coombs and Battisford each Christmas, chose the hospital to benefit this year after a family friend lost their baby.
The £1,185 they raised will go towards a new bereavement suite, which will provide a calm and comfortable space where families can receive psychological and practical support following the loss of a baby.
"Every year, we take the float around the two villages and people are so supportive and generous," said Dave. "We had a friend who recently lost a baby so felt the hospital was an appropriate cause for our fundraising.
"This year, Stowmarket Golf Centre also organised a charity tournament and quiz to help raise even more money. We started the float under the name 'Santa's Village People' and it is always a great occasion. We would like to thank everyone who supported us."
