Jill takes on 10k to say a special thank you to West Suffolk Hospital
A former trainee nurse at West Suffolk Hospital will be pounding the streets of London to raise money - and say thank you - to staff who have treated her battle against breast cancer.
Jill Mayhew will be among the runners and walkers at the Bupa London 10,000 at the end of May in aid of West Suffolk Hospital's Breast Care Unit.
While it will be the fifth time Jill, 65, has tackled the event, she explained that this year will be more personal due to her hospital fundraising.
"I wanted to raise money for the Breast Care Unit to repay all the care and support they have given me," explained Jill, who was a trainee nurse at the hospital 30 years ago.
"I have had eight operations in the last six months but rather than stop my fundraising, the 10k has spurred me on and given me something to aim for.
"I wanted to show that anyone of any age can do anything - I can't wait for the event."
Dave Gooderham, fundraising manager at the hospital, said: "Jill is a wonderfully inspirational person and we are delighted she has chosen to fundraise for the Breast Care Unit."
