Christmas auction will support more than a dozen departments
At least 12 different departments at West Suffolk Hospital will directly benefit from the Christmas charity auction which is now underway.
West Suffolk Hospital Charity’s second online auction launched on Thursday (4 December). A wide variety of exciting lots are on offer, including a rare Beatles photo, the chance to fly your own plane and a tour of the Sky Sports studios.
A champagne lunch onboard a 43ft yacht, Arsenal tickets and a host of other experiences, memorabilia, luxurious stays and meals out are also included in the auction, which ends on Sunday 14 December.
Dave Gooderham, fundraising manager for the charity, said: “We are delighted with the support we have received for this year’s auction, and have attracted almost 50 lots. This once again shows what a generous community we live and work in.
“We gave donors the chance to support the area of their choice and are really pleased that so many departments and wards will benefit.”
Every penny raised through the auction will go towards improving patient care in the hospital. At least 12 different areas will benefit, including the Forget-Me-Not Dementia Campaign, the Macmillan Unit and Rainbow Ward, as well as the A&E department, antenatal, orthopaedics, neonatal, urology, critical care, maternity and the charity's Bereavement Suite appeal.
Mr Gooderham added: “While there are some wonderful money-can’t-buy experiences and rare memorabilia, we also wanted to ensure that the auction had something for everyone.
“Whether you are buying for a golf or boxing fan, fancy a spot of ‘glamping’ or would enjoy some Indian cuisine dressed in traditional costume, there are plenty of perfect presents to choose from.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our donors, and we cannot thank them enough.”
The 10-day auction will run via the charity’s eBay site www.wsh.nhs.uk/christmasauction.aspx.
