Your legacy – their future
We all may need assistance from West Suffolk Hospital at some point in our lives, whether it is for a serious medical condition, a minor accident or the birth of our children. At times like these we really value the very best medical care being available.
At West Suffolk Hospital gifts bequeathed to its charity, My WiSH Charity, in people’s Wills are a vital part of its funding to provide that very best care. Any contribution made in this way makes an enormous difference allowing the hospital to offer the best treatment, delivered by the best staff, with up to date facilities and the very best medical equipment.
Leaving a gift in your Will is a very special thing to do. Making a Will not only provides you with a chance to remember the people and causes you hold dear, but allows you to dispose of all assets owned personally on the date of your death, helping to avoid the often-unfortunate consequences of intestacy.
We appreciate that families and friends will always come first in your Will. However, having done so, would you please consider supporting My WiSH Charity and leave your legacy to help continue and develop our care for the patients of West Suffolk Hospital?
Many people have limited opportunity to make significant gifts to the cause close to their heart during their lifetime, even if they would like to do so. A bequest in your Will can be an ideal way and also ensure your kindness is remembered.
Below is a small list of some of the items that we have been able to purchase due to the extreme generosity of previous legacies.
A specialist chair that helps patients off of the floor if they fall.
An Echo cardiology machine for cardiology diagnostics.
A bladder scanner.
Ecg machine that is used in the event of cardiac emergencies.
A specialist table for theatres that assists children who have hip spica surgery.
A portable chest drainage system.
New upgraded hoists.
Leaving us a gift in your Will is very straightforward. One of your first steps will be to decide the type of gift you’d like to leave – residuary or pecuniary.
• A residuary legacy is when you ensure your loved ones are catered for first and then whatever is left (the residue) goes to charity.
• A pecuniary legacy is a fixed amount of money, for example
If you are making a Will for the first time we recommend you contact a professional advisor, usually a solicitor, who is experienced in such matters. Leaving money to a charity in your Will can make sense too because charitable gifts are exempt from inheritance tax, so it can reduce the tax on your estate. Your financial adviser can help you with the latest in estate planning.
If you would like to come and hear about our work and discuss your choices we would be very happy to help, and we would welcome you in for a tour of your hospital.
